Zhong Kui

Zhong Kui

This is my painting of Zhong Kui, which I bought 2002 in Huang Long Xi. I still think it is the nicest.
Students worked hard to read the calligraphy and gave me this translation:
Author of the poem: 张平轼 Zhang PingShi
Handwriting: 左人玉 Zuo RenYu
Painter: 杨尔森 Yang ErSen

In Tang dynasty, a hero named Zhong Kui had a strong figure. He was frank and straight and always ready to help others. His references were excellent, but he couldn't be accepted because of his bad look. When he dies, he became a hero of catching ghosts. With a sword of one meter and angry beard, he worked to fight against evil ghosts.
Where there is jeopardy, there is Zhong Kui. He bits all the evil ghosts and provides safety and happiness to the common people.
